We did a second dipping today. It has been 8 days since the first one. Steve was not home, he's out hunting so it was Stephanie and I. I got the gloves, the mix of Permethryn in the bucket warmed up by adding two gallons of hot water with the correct dosage of new Permethryn added to the bucket leftover from last week. I got one chicken at a time, starting with the three with the problem to start with and one by one put VetRX on each comb, waddle, and a drop orally. Then I dipped one at a time and had Stephanie use a towel on the top layer so they wouldn't be too cold.
While they were drying, I cleaned out the coop, bug sprayed everything inside and then did the outside. While it all dried I emptied the wheelbarrow and the shop vac and put all the stuff away. When the inside was dry I added diatamaceous earth and a layer of wood pellets while Stephanie put pine shavings in the next boxes. I then misted the pellets and added some nice smelling herb mixture to the boxes and coop. My lemon coop cleaner should be ready now so I'll use it next time and I have a coop refresher in a jar steeping right now.
I also raked out the outside again and added another bag of sand for them to dust bathe in. I let them wander a bit and then we gave them some scratch and filled their treat ball with cabbage and then herded everyone back inside.
Whoo, it took twice as long without Steve's help! I'll change bandages later tonight on the three feet and see how they are doing.
