Heat Wave Sunday

It has been HOT here!  Like 103 in the shade hot.  I'm glad it doesn't stay that way.
I've been off for a few days, just puttered and did some catch up on sketchbooks and some pen pal notes sent.  I didn't even use my sewing machine other than to fix Aiden's pocket.  When the factory put the pants together the pocket had flipped up and got caught in the rivet so I cut it off and sewed the pocket edges together.
I raked out the chicken runs and cleaned out the inside.  I added another layer of sand to the new run addition after I cleaned it out.  I'm sure the girls have spread it out nicely for me and probably taken a few dust baths in it.
We made a foil bubble wrap insulation for the Silkie's water.  I felt the temperature difference.  The big girls Home Depot water bucket already had insulation around it and their water was cool and then I felt the Silkie's water and it was very warm so we bought the stuff and Steve made a wrap for the Silkie's water.  One of my Silkie's is broody again and we keep finding her in the next box.  I have a big pan of water in there, we have been taking her out several times a day and dropping her in the water to cool her off.  At least she's not as nasty as Tina Turner was.
I cleaned up the rose bed by the Studio side door, I need a small fence along there because all the leaves and what ever from the front yard blow there.  I also took out the iris that was there, it was ugly and scraggly and just the old purple iris, nothing special about it.
The solar people are supposed to come this week.  They are building a structure to go over our pontoon boat at another place, then taking it apart and bringing it here to reassemble.  They are supposed to give us notice so we can move the boat out of the way.  They did measurements last week and hopefully get started this week.  It will be nice to have a dropped electric bill and have the solar panels paid for by a retirement account which we'll not see at all, except for the bank transfers that we will have automatically set up.  We have already started the paperwork on it.
