It was hard yesterday sitting in the surgery waiting room. They took her in at 6:30, Rick went back at 7:30 to see her before they did the surgery. They said it would take 4-5 hours so we waited. We went down the hall to the cafeteria and had breakfast and went back to waiting. At around 11:30 there was a commotion out in the hall. Random people that her and Rick knew were out in the hall talking, apparently Sherie was being wheeled down the hall to the elevator to go to her room and she saw them and was trying to yell for them to get Rick. So, would they have let us sit in the waiting room forever? Sherie told me later that they did that all the time to her when she was there for mom. She'd be waiting in the waiting room and mom would be in her room. Incompetant, if you ask me, do they have no compassion for those waiting? The thoughts that are going through our minds? The worry we are going through?
We stayed until she got settled in her room and had her pain meds. That also made me wonder, you are totally reliant on them, she woke up and was in over the top 10 pain, they could not give her anything until it came up on the computer that the pharmacy got her order. She just went through 3-1/2 hours of surgery, was cut open, her guts put into a bowl, things cut out of her, guts put back, and they don't make sure she's not in pain? What kind of world or hospital is this? Nuts! I'll be spending my lunch hours and after work for a while at the hospital. She will be in there for about a week then she's going to my Aunt's when she gets out for a few days so she can take full time care of her.
I'm back to work today and tomorrow in Garden and then she scheduling GODS have not given me garden shifts for the next two weeks, well, I have one 5 hour shift but that's it. Guess I'll be warm for a couple of weeks. Also, I have days all split up again, I'm so glad I requested Thursday and Friday off together all the time or I'd have EVERY other day off. Yep, I will make do and not let it get to me like the last time...
:) :) :)
