I was just reading a friends blog, it started with "don't you hate going to families and having to look at slides of their vacation?" I'm a weird one because I've always loved looking at slides. No one does it any more. We actually put our SD card in our Wii to have a slide show going when family is over. When my sister died we put all the pictures of her we could find on it to show. Now, here I go crying again, it's been a rough week. My good friend, Debbie, lost one of her sisters this week so brought all to the top. My niece graduates next week and she's been a shit since she turned 18 and is a grown up now. If/when she moves, I'll help, I'm about done. I've already raised four kids and wasn't ready for another but who else would have?
Back to slides: our Aunt Cecile & Uncle Bernard used to come and visit us every year as they were passing through. I always felt privileged because Steve's sister also lived here. The first time I met them they stayed at KOA, after that they parked their 5th wheel here and stayed with us. I loved both of them very much. He died several years ago and we went up to see her a couple of years after. Anyway, they used to travel all over and he took the greatest pictures. The canoed the inside passage of Alaska, they counted birds on the Aleutian Islands, saw eagles, polar bears, etc. He actually had slides and we would sit for hours and he would narrate for us. Those were the good times. Aunt Cecile went to Jerusalem two years ago to see what she could see with one of her daughters, she had a blast. Never too young to do that, right?
We are doing a short adventure the weekend after Stephanie graduates. First stop is Dogtown Lake in Williams and while the guys fish, my sister and I will canoe the lake. We also plan on hiking around the lake and hiking the Davenport Hill Trail. Then we are heading out to Fossil Springs for a second night, we can be gone three days but haven't quite decided what we are doing as of yet, maybe we'll Wing it. Ha, that's my sister's last name. This will be our first hike with the new backpacks made for hauling all your stuff with you.
Lastly, we ordered my carpet and are hoping it will be in by that week because we will be working our tails off when we come back. We are emptying the bedroom and closet so I can paint after taking out all the flooring. While I paint my hubby will be putting in a new toilet in the bathroom and new flooring. Guess we need to paint the bathroom first. :) Okay, I've blithered enough. My craft show was a bomb. It was hot, I got sunburned, no shade, and I didn't even make my set up fee. I'll stick with the one in November where I can at least put on more clothes if I'm cold!
