We bought the supplies for the chicken coop last night. Today we built the frame for the hen house and got the floor on and then holes dug and put in them and cemented in. I spent the day on and off painting all the wood with paint that required a second trip to HD, love that place which is why I got the job there. :) I just get discouraged once in a while.
Everything should be dry once again tomorrow and we will continue to build our chicken area. Oh, the lady in GV finally called me back tonight so I'll pick up a couple of chickens from her next week if the pen is done.
Here is what we have so far: I took out the flower bed next to my arbor behind the pond. The rose is still along the right side of the arbor but about 3' next to the arbor will be the hen house and then it will have sides and a cage that are under the hen house and down 10' and it will be 7' deep which puts it along my wrought iron garden fence. This shot makes it look like a condo but two foot of this went in the ground.
This is the view from the back. the side close to the arbor will have the egg box so we can reach in from the outside of the cage. There will be a door on the left side, the whole thing will be enclosed so nothing can get in and they can't get out unless we want them to.
From the front: the side on the right which is technically the front will have like barn doors with plexiglass in them with wire behind so we can open it up to vent for the summer, there will be a small set of doors on the back side also for vents but no window. More to come as we build. We got this in the ground today, and Steve built the roof while I painted all the boards for the roof and fence white. I finished painting the roof in the greenhouse while it poured down cats & dogs. Yep, not even in the forcast, but it sure did cool it down and got rid of that heat warning.
