Newness

My girls finally quit chasing the new girls but every now and then the new Red Star picks on the back of one of the Araucana's.  I've been keeping an eye out and using my new salve I made on their backs.  They make funny noises while I put it on but I think they like it.  The recipe calls for bees wax.  I'll tell you what I did.  I went to the health food store to get the essential oils and asked about bees wax.  Yes, it is here in a bag of balls.  It was $19.  I almost had a heart attack.  My husband said just get a toilet ring.  It is bees wax.  I'm like?  What?  The ring is enough to make two batches of salve at $1.49 for the whole box.  I got the recipe here:

The new girls are names are going to be: Queenie, Princess, and Red.  I keep calling the last one Red and I was going to use Rusty.  Stephanie wanted Hash Brown but Red it will be.  Queenie and Princess are names that Stephanie already picked out for the two she wanted and we have the signs all ready for them to hang.  I just need one for Red.

Steve put a light inside so they will have light in the early am now.  It went on for the first time, I think they were a bit surprised.  Two of the new girls tried to roost outside on the ladder last night and I waited until it got dark and then I went and put them inside.  I got my first bluegreen egg yesterday that was hole.  The first morning one laid one from the ladder and it got broke.  I then gave it to my sister for a whole stack of egg cartons.  What a deal.  I'll share with Cheryl at work.  Okay, enough for one day!
