Run Addition & Decision

We have finished the pond destruction here, have the hole all filled in, grass seed down and the addition to the Chicken Run is beginning.  The run will come off the side of the existing run but go four feet farther back to the fence.  We can't go to the fence behind the original run because of the big Lady Banks rose back there.  There will be a 4'x6' section behind the run with only one entry which is from the Chicken TV area.  The new addition is another 6'x10' and will have a door on one wall so will have two doors now.  The top half of the new door opens so I can toss stuff in without the girls trying to get out.  It is also planned so when the new chicks can go outside I will section off the back four feet for them to grow in and they will be right next to the other girls so they can see each other all the time and get used to each other.

I also made the decision yesterday to rehome the two Americauna's.  I really don't know how old they are and I only get 3-4 eggs a week from them so decided to find homes for them and to keep six of the new chicks that I have coming instead of the four.  I posted them on Craig's List and twenty minutes later someone emailed me wanting them.  That was fast!  They came right over and took them.  The amazing part is: when I got them they would scream bloody murder when catching them and make all kinds of noise when being held.  Now they are quiet and no noise or trying to get away when being held so that tells me that their life here was good for the short time that I had them.  Hopefully their new home will be just as good.

Now for some more run addition photos.

Also, my Silkie, Tina Turner, is being broody.  She keeps sitting in the egg box and we took out the plastic eggs and remove all the Silkie eggs as they lay them but she still sits in there.  We take her out a few times a day and she scratches around and then goes right back.  I need to get some eggs from my friend for her that has fertile eggs.
