Flagstaff Wool & Fiber Festival

I really enjoyed the Flagstaff Wool & Fiber Fest.

It had everything, animals, wool, and all kinds of tools.  I did not buy anything because I still have stuff to do and I'm not going to just buy to buy.  I need carders and the only ones I saw there had no price on them or the second pair was all beat up.  I have a bid on a pair on Ebay so we'll see if I win.  I have yarn that I spun out of a pound of wool that I dyed a nice light green at our local yarn shop. I'm working on spinning my second pound, and I still have a lovely brown wool to spin.  I got dyes for Christmas that I need to use on the second pound and will do that this summer when it is too hot to venture outside.  I also have three partial horse feed bags of three different colors of alpaca wool that I got from Sheri so I didn't need any wool.  It was all lovely to look at and I forgot to take a picture of the Navajo lady that showed me how she spins on her Navajo spindle.  It is long and touches the ground and she spins it on her leg as she goes.  She was very nice.  These sheep were waiting on getting shorn.
I did enjoy looking at all the fibers, all the yarns made from the wool, everything had something different and all were set up nice and it was easy to get around.  There was every color ready to go or bags full of raw wool for sale.  It was fun.  Maybe next year I'll be ready to actually buy some, but I'm still learning.

We watched this guy and his drum carder for a bit.  This company processes your wool for you.

Just another shot of the festival and the one sheep in the pen that just got shorn.

Under the pines.

They had horses also and were giving kids rides around.

A sheep getting shorn.  It is rolled over on it's side in this shot.

In the next shot you can see the head between his legs.

I think it's still laying on it's side in this shot.  When he was done the whole fleece was like a big bear rug laid out.  It was awesome to watch.

Now this would be the goat to have.  It is a Pygora.  It is a cross between Pygmy and Angora goat.  This was a wether and he had an attitude, but he's beautiful.
