I can't seem to kick the chicken mites. Although the article I read tells a much easier way to spray them. I usually use a 5 gallon bucket and fill it half way and dunk the chickens in. The article says to just use a garden sprayer and spray their rear and around their vent area. This uses much less Permethrin than I usually use, too. With that said my girls got sprayed this am, their coop is now clean, sprayed, raked, and fillings inserted. It will have to be done again for the next two weeks but worth it to get rid of the mites.
My daughter is getting rid of her chickens and I'm taking two of them. She has a Polish that I gave her from the same batch as mine and she has a young Red Star that she just got this year. One out of several that her dogs didn't kill. I enjoy my chickens and my goats.
After the coop cleaning was done I came in and shredded up a ton of garden veggies: Armenian cucumbers, jalapeno peppers, snacking peppers, hatch chili's, tomato, carrots, zuchinni, onion, and more I can't think of. I made Sweet & Spicy Garden Relish (chow chow). I just picked up two Serrano chili's to put in the next batch. It calls for a Habanero. That is a bit too hot for me. :)
