My girls aren't laying yet, but they should before winter hits. I've read many places to add additional light so their days are still long and they will still lay. You are supposed to have a light come on eareir than the sun comes up. It is not good to do it in the evening. You don't want it suddenly being dark in the coop, as they get startled and aren't ready for it. So, while I think it is still summer and they do too, we are looking into what kind of light we want. It will have to be on a timer so it comes on a couple of hours before dawn. We already have power out there so that isn't a problem, just need to make a decision on what kind of light we want to put in there.
I did get some fresh eggs yesterday from my friend, Cheryl, at work. Her hubby has camera's like we do and he was having trouble with them. I already said that at some point but they came in and Steve helped him and Cheryl says he finally got them to work the way he wants them to so that is good.
I am coop cleaning this weekend while off, I'm going to rake out the coop and put in new shavings for them to move around and add a layer of pellets to the inside.
