Chicken Aprons and more!

My friend Sandy had chickens that were half naked.  We don't know why her chickens had bare body parts but she decided to try chicken aprons.  They are now feathered and looking good after wearing the aprons.  I decided they can't be that hard to make so I traced one of hers and she gave me some fabric.  I have cotton fabric on top and a layer of flannel underneath for softness.  The original had plastic snaps but I used soft velcro on mine.  I want to take one to her and have her try it out before I whip out any more as I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.  I tried mine on Vera twice, yep, she squatted down when I asked for a volunteer so she got to come inside to be a model.

It was nice and warm here yesterday so we got the roof glued down to the Lil Rock Inn.  I got sand put in it and tried the cat litter scoop.  It works pretty good!  Now, need to do touch ups on the paint and get the inside of the next box painted so stuff doesn't stick to the wood.  I also put two colorful plastic Easter Eggs in their egg box because someone laid an egg outside on the ground yesterday and hopefully they will get the idea that the eggs go in the box.  Next we need to get some chicken wire to make a little pen for them.  They don't jump very well and their area will be behind the flower bed that I can see from the French doors in my Studio.  It is a long skinny section that has a mimosa in it.  We will put the coop under the mimosa and eventually I will put a cover of some kind for rain.  But as skinny as it is and with the mimosa over the top they will have shade and no large bird will be able to scoop and run.
