I found my little Silkie, Reba, sitting on eggs for two days now. She has moved the two fresh eggs together with the two Easter eggs and is being broody. I just took her out, took the fresh eggs out the first day. Yesterday I only had two chickens in the pen again so I opened the egg box and there she was sitting on the two Easter Eggs. Hmmm, what should I do? I removed the Easter Eggs and her and put her in the pen so now there are no eggs in the box.
I also cleaned out the egg boxes in the big coop, the shavings haven't been changed since fall and I've stirred them and added herbs a couple of times and it was time for new. I waited until later in the day when they were finished laying before I did it. I vacuumed out and then put new diatameous earth in the bottom and new shavings and herbs to make it smell good. The weather has been nice so all their windows are wide open. I also raked out both coops of straw and turned the dirt over in the big coop pen. They had a blast with that when they went back in.
I finished painting the Little Rock Inn this last week on the nice days. Photos to follow!
The front view of the coop with the doors open, then the side view of their coop showing egg box and pen, then is the back view, and lastly inside the coop.
