Coop Clean Time

While my husband ripped out the last section of pond, I cleaned out the coop, bug sprayed it, cleaned all in the run and raked out.  I replaced the pellets in the coop and all the while Ruby was in the next box talking to me.  Never left, just stayed and had a low conversation with me.

I sprayed flies that were hanging around and sprayed all the ladders and post.  I have Vanilla Trees hanging around the coop and have fly strips and a fly attractant container to reduce the fly population.

I got the roses trimmed that truly need it in the last couple of weeks and other than that not much else other than tearing down 9 years of pond and filling in the hole.    It will be nice to have an open yard again.  Our first pond was put in that spot before anything else was in the yard.  I added flower beds and lawn around the pond.  It looks amazing now and I will miss the pond but truly?  The chickens have much more personality than the fish and at least I get eggs for the trouble.  Not having to annually replace the UV light that doesn't keep the pond clear or constantly cleaning out the pond, or spending money on chemicals when the fish are dying for some unknown cause.  Nope, our electric bill and water bill should go down drastically this summer! :)
