Destruction

We spent the last three days pounding and destroying the sides of the pond.  It was two 8x8x16 bricks high with cement filling every other brick and rebar in them.  We destroyed, loaded up, hauled off, dumped, came home with fill dirt, and redid.  It was about 8 loads.  It was quicker to unload than to destroy and load.  I now have an open yard with a hole in the middle.  We still need several loads of dirt to finish filling and some nice top soil for the last four inches or so but the hard part is done.  Steve is going to reroute the lawn watering system and add one in the center.

Then we begin on making the chicken run 6' bigger.  The pond was not in the way, we just came to the mutual decision to take it down.  It will be cheaper to not have it.

We won't have to fill the water constantly, replace the UV light every year that didn't keep it clear, nor the pump every couple of years.  The electric bill will go down without the pump and UV light running and not to have to fill the 3000 gallon tank up every few days.  I am going to use one of the couple of hundred gallon stock tanks for a pond and put it out front under the tree on pavers that are already down.  No pump, a few fish, and lots of plants.

On Friday Night my sister, Sherie and I finished working on the hot pads we started weeks ago.  Here is a photo of the ones I completed.
