Chilly Days and Friendship

I do believe winter has finally arrived here.  It has been in the 60s in the day and only 40 at night.  It is supposed to really cool off this week.  I need to get the heat lamps going in the greenhouse and get the auto openers unhooked so it holds the heat inside instead of letting it out.  I also have a 50 gallon drum that I need to get cleaned out and a spigot put on so I can put it in the other back corner to help hold the heat in the daytime when filled with water.

In the Studio I have been working on a baby quilt for my neighbors son Billy and his girlfriend who are due in January.  I also finished all my red, white and blue Broken Dishes blocks and got the top done.  My sister and I put the backing together with 6" pieces of blue and green fabrics to clean out my bins.  I have all these smallish pieces that I want to use up and thin out my fabric bins.  Back to the baby quilt, I bought all these animal and western prints when we went to North Dakota for vacation a couple of years ago and I used the western prints for the top and I picked up a red print with cowboy hats on it for the outside border while I was in Las Vegas yesterday.  I can now get that top finished.  It isn't baby prints but the cowboy theme is perfect for Billy and I think they will like it.

I also recovered my big board ironing board.  It started with a white fabric, then I went to another off white with a lattice print, still showed way too much dirt.  So, I recovered it in a nice black with a flower print. Should not show dirt any more! :)

My friend Sandy has the big cancer.  Breast Cancer and she's had her first session of chemo and had to have another and our office here was closed on Friday so she had an appointment in Las Vegas yesterday so I drove her up and back along with my sidekick, Marilyn.  While Sandy was getting her bags of drugs, Marilyn and I went shopping.  We picked her up a few minutes late and she was HUNGRY when we picked her up so we went back into Henderson and went to a little sandwich shop so she could have soup and sandwich.  All is well, Sandy lost her husband a couple of months ago and is still in shock and then this.  I have known her (them) for about 16 years and I told her, you need anything, you just let us know, that is what friends are for.
