I went out yesterday and let all out. I then emptied the next boxes and put new Diatomaceous earth in the bottoms and added new pine shavings. While they were out Steve came out and raised the far roost bar so it is now the same height as the short one. So there should be hardly "any" scuffles over the highest bar. I then fluffed the straw inside the coop and added a bit more. I haven't used straw inside the coop until this year. I normally use wood pellets and give them a mist to break them up or buy bad bags at HD already messed up for cheap. But, after reading much on the subject, I decided to use straw. I like the fact that I can fluff it and all the poop goes down under the hay. It doesn't smell in the coop, either, like it did last year.
I love how my coop is and the fact that I have two large cleaning doors, well, large for my coop. :) I can fluff straw from either end and it is easy to clean. I then raked out the run and got all the old broken down straw out. I took out the ladder that Sassy kept trying to roost on at night and put the old 3 rung closet pole roost that we used in the coop until we remodeled it.
Time to go out and add water to the frozen since I forgot to put the light on under the water last night. I also didn't close the pop door but the weather has only been mid 30s not in the 12's so they are ok. Oh, and a friend cleaned out her freezer and brought me a couple of bags of frozen veggies that should be thawed and I'll give them to the girls.
