But we're having 70s weather and the girls are coming out every day and storing up all the lawn bits they can. I started watering the lawn to green it up a bit more. I went to a Garden Club meeting this week and there was a speaker from our local winery. He and his family have been here for7 years, they had the soil tested and it is perfect for grapes. He brought all the members a grapevine in a pot. I just have to leave it in the pot for a year so it can get roots.
Chickens love grapes. When my grapes are ripe on the fence and I let them out, they make a beeline for the grapes, all those fluffy butts jumping to get the grapes. Just like the pyrocantha berries, they ate all they could reach and then the smart ones got on the top rail so they could get more. I still have a stripe down the very center where they couldn't reach them.
