Hot July

It has been hot here and the girls have been laying lots of eggs.  I've been getting 7 - 11 eggs a day.  Their swamp cooler comes on at 9:30 am and goes off around 3:30 pm.  Just when it starts warming up it goes on and when the egg boxes get in the shade the cooler goes off.  We go out and close up windows around the time the cooler comes on and around lunchtime or when I remember :) I go out and turn on their mister for the run.  I need to go out this evening and rake out the coop and clean out water dishes but for now am just going to fill them up.  They still have their bucket and bowls drinking system but the two pans are for wading and drinking so I keep them filled up.  I've been letting them out every evening except for a couple of days since my sister saw a large owl sitting on our cooler on the roof.  I kept them locked up for a couple of days.
Driving to my sons I saw chickens in someone's yard yesterday.  Hmmm, should I stop and visit?  I probably will eventually, I knew there was a rooster close but don't know if it is there or not.  I know there is one across the street from me but I also heard one from somewhere behind.
