I spent the last three days at our local alpaca farm. We spun for people to see and the wool we spun got to come home with us. I choose a beautiful gray that is multi colored. That only have one alpaca that color. I got most of one spool filled. I have a beautiful black I will spin up and ply the two together.
The lady in blue was demonstrating the drop spindle. Her husband was making them and as they showed grownups and kids how to do it, they gave them the drop spindles he was making up ahead of time. The beautiful wheel was purchased by Morgana who was sitting by me. She got the wheel and spinning stool for $200 on Craigs list. It was hand painted and signed by someone named Pat. It was absolutely beautiful. I'm thinking of painting on mine now, but that would require taking it apart. Maybe later! :)
My wheel, not so fancy but I love her and she works great. I've only been spinning for less than a year and I don't do it very often with all the things I do but the others complimented the nice yarn I was making. I've finally gotten a nice consistent thin yarn compared to when I started.
