I take my spinning wheel with me when we go in the motorhome and I've taken it to craft shows with me. Recently I've been taking classes at The Spinster, our local yarn shop. I bought a bag for my wheel and when I got it and put it inside, it just swam. It was a bag for many and multi-purpose. I wanted one to fit so my hubby says, we'll just make one. We bought poster board and he played with the angles and he designed a pattern on the poster board and then I cut the pieces.
My only worry was the front, which we cut long and fit it when we had the zippers in. I used a very stiff interfacing on the inside and then I sewed around all the circles in the fabric like quilting to hold it on. I also zig zagged around the edges so the fabric wouldn't fray. The front edges are zig zagged not hemmed, so the zippers are on a raw edge that has been zig zagged.
The pieces cut and waiting for interfacing and sewing.
You can see I stitched around the circles. This is the side view when done.
Front view with the zipper closed. Both zippers end at the top and the whole front opens up to get the wheel in.
View with the wheel in and zippers part way up. I still need to add a handle or strap and I might undo a seam to do it, I haven't decided yet. I also forgot a pocket but I make the clear zippered bags and I might just sew one to the inside to hold the extra pieces for my wheel.
