At the quilt show in Henderson, I went by the Quilts On The Corner booth and she was demoing the Red Snappers. Mind you, I'm always stabbing myself with the pins and when I get to the end of the quilt the pins are always on the end and I'm poking my belly. I quilted three quilts when I got home from the show without them on and ripped fingers twice.
My Suzi Q frame came with leaders, the did not finish any edges so they were all fraying and the end with the wide selvage was at the part where you pin on the quilt. Very hard to pin through so I had to go a bit higher which after a while I drew a line down and put my fabric on the line to pin it above the selvage. Resulted by no finished edges after time the leaders were tweaking.
My husband and I spent most of Saturday making my new leaders and installing them on the frame and then installing the Red Snappers which was the easy part.I sewed a double stitch down all raw sides and then sewed a pocket for the rods to slide in. We then drew a line down the bars which we had to take off the frame and re-taped all the leaders back to the bars. I used purple thread since my frame is purple.
The Red Snappers are awesome, there is a pocket in each leader end and you lay the fabric over it and snap on the top piece over the fabric and it only took me 20 minutes to load a quilt. I watched a You Tube video where the lady loaded one in 8 minutes. This was my first time but it was still faster than using pins and easier on my fingers.
